My food habits

You are what you eat

When I was 7 years old, my father had an ulcers surgery and after that he become very picky with what we buy at the grocery store. Since my mom enjoys cooking, I grew up eating homemade food or fresh food. I never saw my mom using any type of frozen vegetables, for instance. Because of that, today I try to be really careful with what I buy and where I eat.

Mexican Food

However, I do it fast food and processed food every once in a while. I love eating Mexican food so at least once a month I have Taco Bell or Taco Johns, and I eat processed food when I don't have time to make something to bring to school with me or when I have to grab something quickly. But organic food does matter to me! When it is about doing grocery store, I tend to by organic food such as milk, vegetables and fruits.

If an organic food is better than conventional, it will depend on what I am eating. For example, I believe that any fruit, meat or vegetables are better organic than conventional. Since organic food is any food that is free of synthetic substances or antibiotics and hormones, has not been irradiated or fertilized with sewage sludge, free of conventional pesticides and free of modified ingredients.

However, on the reading Eating Food That's Better for You, Organic or Not, Mark Bittman gives an example that “some people feel better to eat an organic Oreo than a conventional Oreo” and Marion Nestle says that "Organic junk food is still junk food" which means that it doesn't matter if you eat organic or not if it is junk, it is still bad for me.
